The groundwork for the first skills and career development Program “CO-OP Education” was cemented on March 28, 2016 at Birzeit University through an agreement between Business and Economics Faculty dean Grace Khoury and General Director of Massar International Manal Zraiq.

Cooperative Education “CO-OP” bridges university life and the working world, combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. The program will start off with students from the Business and Economics Faculty.

“CO-OP joins theory and practice through knowledge and experience. It opens the door to life-changing experiences,” Khoury said. “Students who are close to graduation are expected to make big decisions about their future careers. So it is hugely important that they have the knowledge and self-awareness that allow them to look for chances to develop their skills and make the right choices about their career.”

Zraiq expressed Massar’s commitment to developing human resources. ”At Massar, we place great value on human capital. We recognize that our nation development depends on attracting and retaining the most talented and innovative youth,” she said. “That is why we strive to create an environment where they can grow and excel.”

Both Khoury and Zreik agreed that students must realize the value of adding a year of work experience and developing a professional network through participation in programs like CO-OP education.
