Birzeit University’s Law Department team took first place in the national rounds of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition held in Jericho on February 8-9, 2014.

The Birzeit University team will be representing Palestine in the International Jessup Competition for international law to take place in Washington in April 2014. This year, the Birzeit team competed against five other university teams: those of An-Najah, Al-Quds, the Arab-American of Jenin, Al-Ahlieh in Bethlehem and Hebron.

The Birzeit University team is composed of three students: Areej Rajabi, Sileen Asmar, and Mira Araj, and trained by Rinad Wahid Abdallah and Law Department chairperson Ahmad Nasra.

The Birzeit team will represent Palestine for this international competition in Washington, DC for the third consecutive year.

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 80 countries. The competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations.
