Literature, theater and cinema were all featured at National Cultural Week organized by the Deanship of Students Affairs and concluding on March 19, 2016.

Events organized on campus included heritage exhibitions, a book fair, special theater performances, the screening of short films and documentaries, book discussions providing insight into the Palestinian cultural identity, musical performances and specialized workshops.

“Culture is an important model for civil, non-violent resistance to maintain our identity and culture,” said Dean of Student Affairs Mohamad Al Ahmad. “This cultural week aims at educating, entertaining and enlightening our students to the cultural treasure that Palestine has.”

Activities coordinator Mohammad Hajj Ahmad said that the week’s activities provided a constructive outlet for students to express their feelings through arts, music and intellectual events. “National Cultural Week was very special due to the contribution and interaction of the students. “What made our week extraordinary this year was having an open night at the Michel and Sanieh Hakim Observatory that offered a chance to students, faculty, staff and others to come and observe the night sky through telescopes and learn some astronomy as well.”
