The Birzeit University Faculty of Engineering held an Orientation Day for its freshmen students on November 5, 2013. The goal of the event was to acquaint new students with the faculty and its major and minor fields of specialization, opportunities in academic advising, and how to choose courses.

In his opening address, Faculty of Engineering Dean Afif Hasan emphasized the great need to inform students of the details that will be a reference for their future academic life. "Last year, we adopted the direct-indirect admission policy,” he said, “and put our accumulated experience in front of the students to prepare them for the local and international labor market. Our new program ‘cooperative education’ requires students to spend three semesters at a work site during his or her study years."

Later, Iman Afghan from the Admissions Office briefed the students on the faculty’s programs, regulations and various specializations: electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, and Mechatronics.
The orientation day included art performances, lectures on engineering and its labor market, and tennis and football tournaments.

The Birzeit University Faculty of Engineering was founded in 1979, and has contributed over these years to the graduation of many classes of distinguished engineers who occupy senior positions in local, regional and international engineering companies.
