The Faculty of Information Technology at BZU concluded the first course in its fifth International IT Summer School. As in the past, the International Summer School invited local and international IT experts to lecture to senior and graduate IT students at Palestinian universities.

The first course dealt with Internet security and computer networks, addressing protocols of the Internet, as practiced by internet providers around the globe, for example BGP, OSPF and SIP protocols. Professor of Computer Engineering at BZU, Dr. Iyad Tumar, and Professor of Information Systems Security at the University of Kent, Dr. David Chadwick, taught this course.

The second course started on 9 July 2012 with Professor Paolo Bouquet and Mr. Stefano Bartolini from Italy lecturing on “Semantic Web.” Dr. Adel Khelifi, Chair of the Department of Software Engineering at Alhosn University in the UAE, lectured on measuring software quality and complexity.

Chair of the Computer Systems Engineering Department at BZU and coordinator of the Summer School, Dr. AbdelLatif Abu Issa, emphasized the school’s dual importance, where students are exposed to new and vital IT topics, while the international professors become acquainted with the outstanding IT knowledge level of Palestinian students, a level which gives them an advantage in pursuing future higher studies.
