Lecture Sheds Light on Kidneys Function, Disease

Facts about types of kidney disease were discussed in a May 12, 2016 lecture by Istishari Arab Hospital Nephrologist Dr. Mohammad Burini, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions.

“Sixteen percent of kidney disease is caused by medications and the chemicals they are made of, which hinder the main function of the kidney,” Burini said. He said that the main function of the kidneys is to remove waste products and excess fluid from the body. When the body cannot rid itself of waste fluid, dangerous kidney disease results.

Burini described the main diseases that may occur in the kidneys, telling the students of the importance of protecting their kidneys as the key to good health.
