Birzeit University’s Faculty of Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions held a ceremony in which graduates took the nursing oath in the attendance of Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs of Bachelor Programs Mazen Hamed and faculty Dean Munir Qazzaz, as well as a number of faculty members, graduates and their parents.

“We are proud of being able to teach our students this noble profession, which is considered the essence of the human soul, the hand of comfort for those in pain and an important contributor to the healthcare system,” said Hamed.

Dean Qazzaz told the graduates, “Our nursing program is designed to provide our students the foundation necessary to provide healthcare and nursing.” The class was the third to graduate with nursing degrees. “Our students have proven their distinction and proficiency in the practical field,” he went on.

At the close of the ceremony, the graduate students, accompanied by Qazzaz, recited what is known as the “Nightingale Pledge,” after famed nurse Florence Nightingale, which lays down the ethics and principles of the nursing profession.
