Bringing a message of solidarity and condemnation of the storming of Birzeit University campus by Israeli occupation forces, Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah paid a visit to the campus on June 19, 2014.

Hamdallah met with university President Khalil Hindi and condemned the continued Israeli aggression on educational facilities, particularly Palestinian universities. Hamdallah called on the international community, via its legal and humanitarian institutions, to immediately intervene and stop Israel's policy of collective punishment against Palestinian civilians and educational institutions, which is a clear violation of all charters and international conventions that guarantee the right to education and protection of educational facilities from military actions.

Hindi assured that these attacks will not affect the Palestinians’ commitment to higher learning, enlightenment, and the pivotal role the university has played since its establishment, adding, "This is a grave violation to the sanctity of our campus that was committed by the Israeli army, and is also an attack on the right to education, which is guaranteed by international conventions."
