Prize for the Best MA Thesis in Physics in Palestine Awarded to Birzeit Graduate

Graduate Lamis Naddaf, who completed her master’s in physics at Birzeit University in February 2014, has been awarded the prize for the best master’s thesis in physics in Palestine. The announcement of this achievement was made during the Fourth Palestinian Conference on Modern Trends in Mathematics and Physics (PCMTMP-IV) held at Al-Quds University from August 11-13, 2014. Theses from graduates of Palestinian universities were nominated for the prize during this year’s competition.

The prize money was awarded by Professor EmeritusEdriss Titi who also promised Naddaf and all other candidates to help them obtain scholarships to do their PhD degrees at prestigious universities abroad. Professor Titi was one of the many academics and researchers in the fields of mathematics, physics and engineering who participated in the conference.

Naddaf’s thesis entitled the “Effects of Intracellular Crowded Environment on Biochemical Reactions” was advised by physics professor Abdallah Sayyed-Ahmad and Wa’el Karain and Wafaa Khater sat as members of the defense committee. Naddaf and Sayyed Ahmad wrote a joint paper based on the results from the research that will be published soon in the Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics journal.
