Students Present Research on EU History, Institutions

Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute for International Studies recently concluded a course on the history, law and institutions of the European Union, supported by Jean Monnet European Union Centre of Excellence.

The course culminated in a workshop where students presented and discussed the research they conducted during the course.

The papers presented in the first session explained the impact of mass Muslim immigration on the future of the European Union. Using case studies, the participants explained the European responses to the refugee crisis within the broad stereotype of Islam.

The next session tackled the political and economic challenges facing Europe, including the economic crisis, Greece’s debt crisis, the Ukrainian issue and Iran’s nuclear program.  Students also discussed the EU’s relationship with Palestine and its supportive or non-supportive policies towards the cause.

Professors Tariq Daana, Nayef Abu Khalaf, Lourd Habash and Ahmad Hamad gave their comments and feedback on the presented papers.
