Sahar Hassan PhD, BSN, MSN, CNM is a USA graduate, Masters in Nursing Science from the University of Pennsylvania, USA and holds PhD in Public Health-Epidemiology/Women’s Health from University of Oslo, Norway. She is an academic researcher at the Institute of Community and Public Health (ICPH) and a teaching faculty in the Faculty of Nursing, pharmacy and Health Professions at Birzeit University in Palestine. Sahar has a longstanding nursing and midwifery leadership experience in Palestine, having worked in government and non-government clinical and educational organizations. She is conducting qualitative and quantitative research focused on implementing evidence during normal childbirth, investigating maternal and newborn health, maternal and newborn morbidities during and after childbirth. She participated in multidisciplinary multi-country networks and research teams focused on reproductive health, midwifery, maternal and newborn health, morbidities and near miss conditions. Sahar is a reviewer for many scientific journals, has published 10 peer-reviewed research papers. She led interdisciplinary national teams, carried out many national and regional professional consultancies in the area of curriculum development and evaluation, clinical guidelines and protocols and evaluation of health workforce. She is also on the Research Advisory Network (RAN) working on the Research Agenda for ICM, a member of the a multidisciplinary regional Reproductive Health Working Group (RHWG) and a co-founder of the Palestinian Midwives’ National Committee. She presented many papers at national, regional and international conferences and was invited to present in both regional and global conferences.
