- 2008 - currently: Assoc. Prof., then Prof., Department of Chemistry, Birzeit University. (currently Dean of Graduate Studies at the University).
Specialization and Scientific Research |
Specialized in Physical Chemistry and Radiochemistry. The main research interests are:
- Synthesis and application of nano iron in the removal of aqueous pollutants.
- Surface Chemistry and the adsorption behavior of heavy metal ions and radionuclides on soil fractions.
- Morphosythesis of carbonate minerals.

- Supervising and co-supervising many MSc and PhD theses.
- Participation in organizing many conferences, workshops and symposia locally and abroad.
- Refereeing tens of papers for international periodicals.
- Forty three published research papers in reputed international refereed journals.
- More than twenty published abstracts in international conferences.
- The publications were cited more than 1100 times, author H-index is 19 (Google Scholar).
Achievements and Awards |
- Ranked first among graduates of Chemical Engineering Department-Middle East Technical University in 1994, and ranked first among the foreign students throughout the university for the same year.
- Scholarships for MSc and PhD studies (1995-2000) at Bilkent University.
- Annual Turkish award entitled ‘Prof. Parlar Award for Encouragement of Scientific Research' in 2006.
- Z. Hijjawi Appreciation Awards for supervising the winning undergraduate research projects in the fields of natural and environmental sciences for the years 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, successively.
